Christmas 2006 - Continued
The “Real Christmas”
started with the arrival of Beverley and Ffion, at Knock Airport, via coach
from Shannon Airport (diverted flight) on the 20th December, at the same
time that I was waving goodbye to Robin, Angela, Derek and Val. The next few days were a mixture of relaxing at home,
wrapping presents, entertaining neighbours, or going shopping at either Roscommon,
or Athlone.
Melly went
to midnight mass on Christmas Eve and eventually we went to bed at 2.00 am. The next day we woke up about 7.30am. My mother joined us from her cottage and we had a
cup of tea, followed by feeding the animals. Beverley
and Ffion had already opened their Christmas stockings in their bedroom and were having their
breakfast.
Sorcha eventually woke up and joined us. Shortly afterwards we went
through the traditional ritual of opening our Christmas stockings in bed. This was eventually followed by joining the others and opening the main
presents under the Christmas tree. Melly's main presents
included clothes and a twist stepper. Sorcha
got a portable DVD player, a MP3 player and a guitar and I got a racing bike.
