First Day of Spring
(1st March 2006)
We had experienced a
very mild winter with temperatures well above normal. However, in
the last few days before March it began to get cold and when I woke up on
the 1st March (the first day of Spring), there was approximately about four
inches of snow. It
was about 7.00 am and dawn was breaking when I got up to feed the animals.
I took my camera with me to record the events.
I first gave the horses a bundle of hay and
then wandered over to the lake to snap some photos. Unfortunately,
most of the photos came out too dark. I then gave the goats and the
male rabbits who are currently occupying the goat enclosure some hay.
At this point the snow started falling heavily
again. The chickens abandoned their rush to get outside and observed
the falling snow from inside their shed.
