October 2009
st Got up at 4.00 am and took Mum and Nancy to Dublin airport for their cruise holiday. Jasmin (dog) stayed with us for the week.
nd The tortoises had a narrow escape. Sometime during the day the overhead light fell down into their tank and burnt the sawdust on the floor. Luckily it smouldered and left a large burnt patch, rather than catch alight. The tortoises smelt of smoke and were washed in warm water. They were bought inside so that I could keep an eye of them. One of them had a cough for a few days, but they seemed to have recovered. Sorcha arrived back from Westport.
rd & 4th Warm, sunny days. Completed the new maze, also continued building up the new donkey shed and started on the rabbit observation shed.
th Workmen started to place drainage pipes on our side road, so hopefully we wont be experiencing "rapids", whenever it rains hard.
th Mum arrived home about 8.00pm.
th Torrential rain after a sunny, warm week. Makes you wonder if my mother has something to do with the weather.
st Caught two baby mice (live trap) in the attic. They are now resident in an aquarium in our caravan.
nd Graduation Day at the Institute. Wore my gown and hood.
rd Holidays until the 2nd November. Built roof onto the donkey shed. Erected some donkey fencing.
th Two donkeys joined our menagerie. They were named Jack and Jenny.
th-31st Work commenced on the new rabbit enclosure. First, the rabbits were moved to a large cage in the shed. Followed by knocking down the old posts and fencing. Afterwards concrete blocks were cemented to build an indoor part.
th The third mouse was captured and placed in our aquarium
st Today we had a bunch of "trick or treat" kids. It is a big thing in Ireland, unlike the UK.
