March 2009
1st Ireland
played England
at Rugby, in Ireland. Ireland won! Melly is now going to be
insufferable over the next year! See picture on right to see
what
I mean.
2nd
Started the online part of my course, while it saves me a return trip
to Dublin every Tuesday, it does seem more intensive and occupies more
time! Swings and roundabouts come to mind!
14th Another chicken died. It was about four years old, apparently the average life of a chicken is around 4.
17th St Patrick's Day - a public holiday in Ireland. A warm sunny day. Spent most of the day concreting the floor of the chicken shed and completing the new duck enclosure.
18th Went to St James hospital, Dublin for a routine MRI scan.
19th Melly got some severe stomach pains in the evening. At 9.00pm we drove to Roscommon hospital. They diagnosed an infection and kept her in overnight.
20th The last few days have been quite warm (12c) and sunny. Spent much of the day concreting the floor of the chicken shed. Picked up Melly from the hospital around 4.00pm. At 9.00pm we went (Pearl, Melly and I) to our neighbour's (Seamus & Bernie Cuddy) house for the Stations. Enjoyed a wonderful salad meal. Plus Bernie gave me a plate of delicious assorted deserts - I like that woman!
21st A warm sunny day. Saw a really big fox - the size of an alsation walk through our new wooded area in the afternoon. Spring is definitely in the air. During the last week I have seen flies, bees, ladybirds, plus lots of daffodils and primroses are sprouting up all over the place. Ireland played Wales and beat them in a tight, exciting game. This meant that Ireland became the Grand Slam Champions. The first time they have done this for over 60 years.
22nd Mother's Day. A warm, sunny, but windy day. Gave Mum some Vit B tablets and water filter blocks - they were practical things that she requested! Personally, I wanted to give her the car socket set - although she doesn't have a car! Sorcha gave Melly a blue dress and a white bath robe. At teatime we had a chicken meal, followed by cake and ice cream.
24th The intense MSc in Applied eLearning module - Supporting Virtual Communities has just finished. It is the reason that so little on this website was done during the past three weeks. Now I have two weeks to write the paper.
