We
set off for Kathryn and Christopher's wedding in the afternoon
expecting to take off from Knock Airport at 5.00pm, but it was about
midnight before we eventually took off (technical problems) arriving at
Stansted at 1.00am. After a couple of hours driving we eventually
arrived at Robin's house - where we were staying, at 3.00am.
Since the wedding was taking place at noon we didn't get very
much sleep.
The next day we
set off for Stilton Village, a beautiful English village where the
Stilton cheese gets its name. The ceremony, photographs, reception and
disco took place at the Bell Inn. All the family were present and
although we don't meet together very often it was good to see
everyone. As always the bride was radiant and the groom was
dashing - his words not mine! The best man spilt the beans on
Christopher's earlier life - always useful for a bit of future
blackmail.
The best
traditions of an English wedding were followed and these included the
speaches, where Colin exceeded himself - he has obviously been taking
lessons from Robin. Cutting of the cake, first dance, etc.
All too soon the night was finishing and we made our way back to
Robin's house. The following day we caught an early afternoon
flight home without incident.
