Hot Weather
Starting from the 27th May we
had a very hot spell lasting 14 days. Temperatures reached 28c and
were never less than 21c. This was a welcome relief from a very bad
spell of rain, cold and wind, which had continued since the end of February
- with the exception of a warm spell of seven days in early May.
We needed no encouragement to fill the swimming
pool and enjoy bar-b-que lunches, in the Spinney. It was still too
early for the hoards of flies and wasps that often plague us in July and
August. Many of the animals found it too hot and spent most of the
day hiding in the shade.
Melly and Sorcha spent time
playing swingball, while Sorcha and I motored around our islands on the lake,
using our newly acquired electric engine, or went swimming in the pool.
