Greek Holiday - Continued 2
The routine of
working on the boat in the mornings and visiting the internet cafe and
beach in the afternoon continued until Sunday, when we took the day off
to visit the waterfalls, near Nidri. Although it was only about 2 miles away we took the bikes and pedalled in temperatures of 40C plus.
Near the base of the waterfall was a shaded cafe selling cold
drinks and ice cream which was greatly appreciated. The main
waterfall was reached by following the dried up river bed and swimming
in the cool water at the base of the waterfall was a welcome
relief after our small trek.

Nidri beach was a little strange in that the beach was mostly shingle with sand, but as you entered the sea it changed to sand.
The beach had a few bars with ice cold beer and there was plenty
of water sports activities, including paragliding and being pulled in
an inflable sofa, via speedboats. Derek left after two weeks and
I spent a further week working and enjoying the beach, before I returned home.
