Greece at Easter

On the 24th April I departed Dublin Airport for Gatwick (8.00am) and then Gatwick (15.45pm) for Athens.  I arrived at 9.30pm with a  temperature of 21C.  It was to hover between 18 and 22C for the next five days.  After catching the metro I arrived at the Hotel Elite, in the centre of Athens, around 11.00 pm.  A quick excursion outside provided me with a kebab, chips and a drink for €2.50 - I don't think I could have got even the drink for that price in Ireland!

The next morning I caught the coach for Lefkada at 7.00am.  There was hardly any traffic about and I arrived in Lefkada in three hours, instead of the normal 5 hours plus.  It was only then that I found out that the 25th April was a public holiday (something to do with the Greeks getting independece from the Turks).  I found that my boat was in fairly good condition with only a tea towel suffering a bit of mould.  The next few days were spent cleaning and fitting a variety of objects.  Strangly it rained a bit every night and I quickly found where the leaks were - always over my head!  However, the days were dry and warm.

On Friday I caught the coach back to Athens.  After a bit of light shopping and a meal I settled in my hotel room and watched an evening of  English/American comedies and films.  The following day I reversed my journey and arrived home around 2.00 am Sunday morning.
