Our Cruise Holiday
On
Tuesday we arrived at Marseilles. We left for an excursion to
Cassis - a small fishing village, near Marseilles. Nearby are the
famous "clanques" - small fiords nestling between the mountains.
The temperature was slightly less than previous days, being in
the high 20's. We were taken to a high advantage point
overlooking Cassis and then a small train took us down to the Port of
Cassis. After a few hours shopping we returned back to the ship.
The following day we arrived at Barcelona and Imelda and I went
on an excursion to see the houses, park and cathedral designed and
built by Gaudi. He was a designer years before his time and the
buildings were both breathtaking, beautiful and complex.
In the afternoon
we went shopping in Barcelona and at 4.00pm we met up with my friend
Rita and her husband Ze. They had lived in the USA for at least
ten years, but now had a new job, near Barcelona, which gave us the
opportunity to see them. It was lovely to see them and catch up
on news. That evening was our last evening and it was with a
twinge of sadness that we had our last meal and cabaret. The
following morning we departed from Palma and arrived in Ireland
accompanied by the rain.
