Our Cruise Holiday
On
Sunday, we arrived at Naples, Italy. We went on a excursion to
Pompei - the Italian city destroyed by molten ash & larva, from
Mount Souvious. Again it was another hot day with temperatures in
the low 30's. I was surprise at the size of the site and took us
about two hours to walk around. It was interesting to observe how
life used to be, around two thousand years ago and view "fossilised"
people and animals who were caught out by the eruption.
The next day we
arrived at Ajaccio, in Corsica. We visited a tortoise protection
farm and saw giant tortoises over 150 years old - almost as old as my
mother. Later in the afternoon Sorcha and I visited the shops.
We found the Corsican people very friendly and extremely polite,
particularly whenever we tried to cross the road. Instead of
being a target, as in Sicily and Italy, the traffic would stop to let
us pass even if we wasn't near a zebra crossing, or traffic lights.
