Our Cruise Holiday
At
8.00pm, on the 27th June we set off to the Travelodge, Dublin, to start
our holiday. The next morning around 6.00am, we left the
Travelodge and travelled the short distance to Dublin airport.
After a two hour flight we arrived in Palma, Majorca, in
temperatures of around 30C. We unloaded our bags in our cabins
and made our way to the ship's restaurant where we started as we meant
to continue - eat well and plentiful! In the afternoon, Sorcha
and I went for a walk along the Palma promenade. After dinner we
went to the cabaret - as polished as any west-end production.
Around ten at night we watched the shore lights of Palma grow
dimmer as we left the harbour.

The following day was spent at sea. Mid morning was interrupted
by a lifeboat drill. The rest of the day was spent eating,
drinking, reading, sunbathing and swimming in one of the two pools.
The evening was spent going to the cabaret. The following
morning we arrived at Palermo, Sicily. We went for a stroll
around the city in temperatures of 31C. Despite it being a
Saturday morning, the traffic was awful and had no regard for
pedestrians. You literally took your life in your hands if you
crossed a zebra crossing with the traffic lights showing red for
traffic. The best you could hope for, is that they would weave
around you! In the afternoon, we decided it would be safer to
swim and sunbathe on the ship. That evening we were paired up at
our dinner table with a lovely family from Northern Ireland - William,
Alison, Laura and Jill.
