Sorcha's Confirmation
Sorcha was confirmed into the
catholic religion, at 4.00 pm, on the Tuesday, 2nd May, at Castlecoote
Church. It was cold and rained heavily, at times, throughout the
day. Christine and Michael
(Colin's wife and son) flew over from England to join us in the celebrations.
Unfortunately, Imelda got some Supply Teaching work that day
and only arrived back at the house, forty five
minutes before the ceremony started.
During the day, my mother, Christine, Michael,
Sorcha and myself, prepared the food and drink, created decorations, cleaned
and tidied the house. My
mother had baked the confirmation cake and had iced it a few days earlier.
A few guests: Jacinta and Annie (Imelda's
sister and mother) had arrived at the house to accompany us to the church.
We left at 3.30 pm and managed to get the last few seats still available
at the church. Nicky and Reece
(Jacinta's husband and son) joined us. The service lasted about an hour
and a half, as there were about forty children and adults to be confirmed.
When it was over we posed for a few photographs,
however this was quickly curtailed as the rain started to fall heavily
again.
