Brent's Birthday
My birthday
started with the traditional breakfast in bed, supplied by Melly.
This was followed up by opening the presents at 8.00am, as Melly
had to go to work and Sorcha had to go to school, by 8.30am. I
received clothes, car stuff, books. and about a dozen cards.
After Melly and Sorcha had gone, my mother and I made our way to
Roscommon hospital as I had woken up with the right side of my body
being extremely painful - similar in both location and intensity when I
had my pneumonia several months previous. After about three hours of
assorted tests, scans and blood samples, it was put down as being a
muscular pain. I was given a prescription of lydol which is a
brilliant pain relief. It takes away all pain for very long periods
(twelve hours at a time), although it does leave you feeling "spaced
out".
During the early evening I had several friends (Dica from France and
Rita from the USA), as well as family, phone to wish me a happy
birthday. Later in the evening, for a change, we visited a
Chinese restaurant which we used to frequent before discovering our
favourite. That was a big mistake as we didn't like the food
and ambience. It was the only time that I remember us leaving
food because it was awful, as opposed to us being to full to eat
anymore! Everything was rushed, as though they wanted us out as soon as we had finished. Even
worse was that due to my recent internal bleeding I was unable to drink
alcohol. However, the company
was great and that's the most important thing.
