Biography of Brent Floyd

I was born in Thorpe Hall, Peterborough, England on 11th January 1952.  I was the eldest of four, two brothers and one sister (Colin, Robin and Beverley).  Life is difficult as a small boy when you possess such a fine head of curls. The boys thought I was a girl and the girls knew I was a boy!  I wasn't very academic at school preferring to dress up as Dr Quack in school plays.  However, later on I became friends with Andrew who introduced me to the concept of studying .... and girls. Everyone should have a friend like Andrew!

I left school and worked as a LaboratoryTechnician, in the area of Toxicology, at a Research Centre.  While at night I studied to get to University.  In 1972 I achieved my aim and studied Chemistry in London.  I also grew my hair in order to obtain those curls again.  During this time I made friends with Low and Richard and our "party house" became known as the ABC flat (our nationalities were American, British and Chinese).  Our behaviour and parties became legendary during this period, but unfortunately, wild, young abandonment eventually gives way to early signs of maturity and responsibility, and after a couple of years we all went our separate ways.

In 1974 I started working at Thomson Holidays as a Telephone Sales Advisor.  This job gave me the opportunity to visit different countries and over the next two years I travelled extensively - particularly Spain, Portugal, Tunisia, Greece and Italy.  During one six month period I spent a week in Novosibirsk, Siberia in the first week of January, with temperatures approaching -50c and the following August I spent a week in the Sahara desert, Tunisia, with temperatures approaching +50c.  In the Summer of 1975 I took a two week cruise in the Mediterranean, with Andrew, in "A class" cabins and all it costs us was £20 each.  We visited Sicily, Italy, Greece (Athens), Kos, Create, Rhodes, Israel and Beirut.  There was a lot of tension in Beirut and everyone seem to have a machine gun strapped to their back, which was a pity because it was a beautiful place.  A few months later, the long civil war took place.
