1st August
15th Left Spalding and followed Robin until we got to village church. As Holly and Michael came out it started to rain - the only rain we saw in England. Afterwards we headed for where the reception was being held. Had a lovely meal and it was great to meet all the family. Around 10.00 pm we left for the Travelodge in Scunthorpe.
16th Left the Travelodge and had breakfast at Tescos. Afterwards we drove to Flamingo Land (Yorkshire). Got cloudy and cool as we travelled north. Sorcha and I went on two roller coasters. Afterwards we walked around the zoo section - which we thought was more interesting. Left at 6.00 pm and got back to Spalding at 9.00 pm.
17th Melly's birthday. She got a tea in bed. She received lots of cards and presents. At noon we all went on the Water Taxi in Spalding to Springfields (Tulip gardens). Did some shopping for an hour and then we walked around the gardens. Became quite warm in the afternoon. Caught the Water Taxi back to Spalding.
18th Drove our hire car back to Stansted (lovely weather). Arrived back to Ireland where it was wet and cold. It had been raining every day since we left.
23rd Monsoon type rain came down from the sky most of the day. The road next to us had white rapids (see picture).
24th
Went to Knock and picked up my sister Beverley and her daughter Ffion.
25th Dry in the morning and managed to do some concreting. The chain broke on my quad bike Agh!!!
26th Went to Athlone with Sorcha and Caitlin. Got her
electric guitar restrung. She also picked out some curtains
and lamp shade. I got a sunlight lamp for the tortoises -
cant have them getting SAD because of the lack of sun in Ireland.
Beverley, mum, Nancy and Ffion went swimming at the Hudson Bay Hotel in
Athlone. Ffion helped me put the animals away at night.
27th Raining again. Vet came at 2.00 pm and castrated Podge and Rodge - they wasn't pleased!
